I was in a family session with our bride here, Dana, and she was telling me that she recently got engaged and was planning a destination wedding in Florida. We talked for a while about her plans and how excited she was. It was going to be amazing! Then I said, “Please tell me you need a photographer for this wedding…” and as fate had it, I was hired on the spot. I love a destination wedding. I love the idea of them, I love going to them, and I LOVE photographing them. So a few months later, with my husband as my assistant and my Lowepro equipment backpack loaded up, we hopped on a Jet Blue flight to Hollywood, FL for Dana & Joel’s wedding. It was a Sunday, and the day began at our hotel, The Diplomat. It started as most wedding days do, with mimosas and kisses and butterflies in tummies. Then, Dana whispers to me that she thinks that she wants to jump in pool with her dress on at the end of the night! I was like DO IT! So we had our little secret and the day proceeded, next with a reveal in the hotel lobby. From the reveal and after some awesome pics, we all headed down to the yacht for the nuptials. On the upper deck of The Grand Floridian, at sunset, Dana and Joel exchanged vows in a sweet ceremony and became husband and wife. We sailed north to Ft. Lauderdale, passed the famous Pier 66, and the party went on late into the night. When we docked back in Hollywood, Dana was true to her word. As soon as we arrived back at our hotel, in she went! Joel and Dana both in their full wedding attire jumped into The Diplomat pool as man and wife. So happy I could grab those moments, now they have proof of their legendary wedding, and their late night plunge. All the best Dana and Joel, thank you form the bottom of my heart for the opportunity to photograph your big day. I loved every minute.
